  • Gary Collins, known for hosting “Hour Magazine” and “The Home Show”, was arrested Tuesday night in Los Angeles, California on suspicion of drunk driving. Police stated that his blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit in California, which is .08.

At around 5:30 in Sherman Oaks Collins crashed his Ford Explorer into a Toyota, which had a 80-year-old driver in it. It was reported by witnesses that he was going at least 60 mph at the time of the crash. The force of the wreck sent Collins’ car across the street and into oncoming traffic, where he hit two more cars, these two parked though. Right after the accident, the 80-year-old victim was knocked out cold, and was pulled from the Toyota by paramedics and then delivered to the hospital. Collins wanted to get out of Dodge, but witnesses advised him that hit and run charges would be costly.

Police gave Collins a field sobriety test. He failed this miserably. When they tried to get him to do a Breathalyzer test four times, he mumbled out that he could not understand the instructions. Police decided that the best course of action was to just arrest him. At the police station, Collins was given a blood alcohol test.
