  • The following defines Ignition Interlock Devices that are valid in Texas:

    • Intoxalock (7/1/1994)

      Alcohol-specific fuel cell technology for more accurate readings.

    • Draeger (2/11/1997)
      The heated electrochemical fuel cell and breath sample path ways provide an extremely reliable and accurate measurement.
    • LifeSafer (8/27/1998)

      LifeSafer interlocks are used in over 50% of ALL interlock programs and to date are the most widely used interlocks in the United States.

    • Smart Start (4/7/1999)

      A state-of-the-art handheld breath-alcohol monitoring device electronically connected to the vehicle ignition

    • Guardian (3/27/2001)
      Three alcohol samples are delivered to the unit, from which the device auto calibrates, eliminating the need for the service center to manually adjust device calibration.
    • Alcohol Detection Systems (4/27/2007)

      The system analyzes blood alcohol content and determines if a driver is within a legal limit to get behind the wheel.
